Job Title: Cost Accountability
Location: Kampala
Summary: The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in analyzing our company’s financial data and cost structures to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations. This role will provide valuable insights into cost-saving opportunities and assist in decision-making processes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analysis of the company’s cost structures, identifying areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and manage budgets and forecasts, ensuring they align with the company’s financial goals and objectives.
- Implement cost control measures to manage and monitor expenses, including variance analysis and reporting.
- Oversee and optimize inventory accounting processes, ensuring accurate valuation and timely reconciliations.
- Calculate and maintain accurate product costs, including standard costs, and assist in pricing decisions.
- Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to support management in making informed decisions.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, reconciling cost accounts and ensuring accuracy in financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance accounting processes, systems, and controls to streamline operations and enhance accuracy.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and provide support to management for special projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or similar role in a manufacturing or production-oriented environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when necessary.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
